Together we’ll go a long way
With a special project comes a special way to get on board the train. To give everybody equal chance and to have a good mixture of people on board, we have thought of a couple of ways to distribute the “tickets”. Here’s how.
Two types of tickets
There will be two types of tickets: the full ticket and one-week tickets. With the full ticket, you get the maximum unity experience. However, if you can’t go for the full four weeks, then we have week tickets for you. All tickets include a bed, food on board and during city events, and of course access to all activities.
Three ways to get a ticket
- By submitting or joining a project through crowd funding
In June you can start investing in the project through something called “crowd funding” via a Virtual Train. This gives you a chance to get on board. When we have the website ready to accept projects to be submitted (somewhere after the summer), you can use that project to increase your chance. The more support (votes) you get for the project, the better your chances of getting on board. In other words: only the best projects (according to the community) get on board. - By participating in a lottery through crowd funding
Like with the first possibility, you invest in the project through crowd funding via the Virtual Train. If you don’t want to start or join a project, you can just participate in a sort of lottery, in which all crowd funders get a chance to go on board, based on an asset you have, like your culture (Frisian), a special ability (safety officer) or age (63 and still young at heart). This process will be as objective as possible. - By buying a ticket
A small percentage of the total amount of available tickets will be sold at a premium price. This is for those that are quick, have money and just want to be on board. Prices for these tickets will be made public soon. They will be at least €399 for a week and €1299 for 4 weeks, but might be higher.
What is “crowd funding”?
Crowd funding is like donations, but with one difference: you get something in return. So, in other words, you can sponsor a little piece of the train. By doing that, you have a chance of actually going on board the train! The minimum contribution for a chance is €20, but every contribution is rewarded with something. These different levels will be more clear when the development of the Virtual Train, used for the crowd funding, is finished.
So, by sponsoring a small part of the train, you can experience one of the biggest journeys of your life for as low as €50!
But why?
There are basically three reasons for the choice of going for a selection process:
- We want the journey to be accessible for everybody, not just the rich and wealthy
- We want active participants on board, not just consumers. The motto: you can be a part of this for almost nothing, but you have to do something for it!
- We want a fair chance for everybody to get on board, not just the people that came in contact first
We think that this approach fits the project like a glove, because of its open and voluntary nature.
